Why Julie James rocks my world

Smart. Funny. Real. Hot.

These are the things I look for in contemporary romances, and no one serves them up better than Julie James.

Love Irresistibly by Julie JamesJulie writes about Chicago, a city I lived in for my freshman year of college. My main memories of Chicago center around being too young to get into anywhere cool, volunteering at a jail one night a week where I heard some horrific stories, and freezing my ass off for eight months. Yet Julie’s books make me long to go back.

Her heroines are smart. They’re really freaking smart. And their heroes love them for it. That’s right – smart, sexy men know where it’s at.

With snappy dialogue, strong friendships and believable conflicts, her books feel realistic but still offer a perfect fantasy.

But there’s something else I really admire about Julie James. She publishes one book a year. Okay, as a reader that leaves me yearning for more, but as an author I know how much pressure there can be to publish 100 books a year. I love it that Julie writes one book a year and makes it completely awesome.

If you haven’t read Julie’s books, do yourself a favor and order one NOW. I promise you won’t be able to put it down.

Why Julie James rocks my world — 6 Comments

  1. I read my first Julie James book this month. It had been sitting on my Kindle for a long time, but I finally made the time to read it. Love, love, love her voice and characters. Funny, sexy, smart. She is a new fave.

  2. I listened to Love Irresistibly on audio and it was fantastic. Her characters were real, and emotional and well developed, and the way the love story develops is totally believable. The dialogue is witty and funny and felt real. I totally agree with you about the way she portrays Chicago. She truly loves the city and that love shines through her words. I definitely second your Julie James recommendation, Kat!

  3. Kat, you hit on all the reasons why I adore Julie James. Witty and humorous dialog, smart, feisty heroines, and heroes I wish I could meet in real life. I had the pleasure of being introduced to Julie at RWA Nationals in July and she was very gracious as I babbled on and on about loving her books. Yep, I’m a fan girl when it comes to Julie James, and proud of it.

  4. I have read all of Julie’s books, as they were first recommended to me on Goodreads and love them all. I read a lot of small town romance books so it is nice to read big city romance, too. :)
