Like mothers, authors are not supposed to have favorites. But I confess, I do. Not a favorite child, but more than a few heroes who have stuck with me as I go on.

One of the first stories I ever wrote (Long Distance Love) featured Jack Rudolph, a guy who works for the FBI…as an accountant. Hey, don’t laugh. They busted Capone for tax evasion.

I’ve loved younger men – Steve Larson from Seducing Steve.

And older men like Oliver Watkins from Daring Miss December.

But, I have to confess, I’ve been obsessed with the hero from my upcoming release, FLIP THIS LOVE, since the moment he popped into my head. Big and bossy. Unflinchingly determined. And funny. So darn funny that the man cracked me up with some of the things that came out of his mouth. I swear, I had very little control over the man. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

As a matter of fact, the one thing these characters all in in common is their ability to laugh. At themselves, their partners, or the circumstance life has tossed at them. I am a sucker for a man who makes me laugh. My husband cracks me up at least once a day. Okay, sometimes I may be laughing AT him, but you get the point.

What gets to you? Comment below and I’ll give one winner a digital copy of FLIP THIS LOVE!
