Home Improvement Shows and the Authors Who Love Them!

Well not really, but that might as well real when it comes to my love/obsession with handymen on television. It would also explain where the idea for my latest release, NAILED came from.

COSMO_0414_9781460328231_NailedSo being a full-time writer means that I have a lot of temptations around my house that I need to be aware of when I’m working. Keeping away from the television is one of the biggest things. Unfortunately for me, HGTV has most of its shows available online. Yes, that means when I’m on a break *cough*procrastinating*cough*, that I can simply go to their site and pick out one of my favourite shows to watch.

Hence the idea for NAILED was born.

The idea of a plucky designer and a tough as nails contractor is pretty much natural, but when you throw in the reality show, I could imagine how it would change how these people interact with one another. Throw in a little danger and the spark would fly as much as the sawdust. The result had Sophia and Fynn building more than just a new women’s shelter.

And I got to put down a few of my ideas *cough*fantasies*cough* about what really goes on behind the cameras.

You can pick up a copy of Nailed over at HarlequinAmazonB&NiBooksKobo, or Google Play.

Warning: This show contains scenes of sexual tension.

Hosting a new TV show is a fantasy-turned-reality for diva decorator Sophia Holbrook. But concentrating on color swatches is hard when all she can think of is her studly cohost, contractor Fynn Babineau. These two may clash over blueprints and budgets on-screen, but with the lust palpable between them, rumor has it they have been putting more than just their heads together behind the scenes…. What secrets will the cameras expose? Tune in tonight to find out.

Viewer discretion advised. Mature audiences only.

  1. Brilliant how you managed to turn your TV “temptation” into inspiration. From now on you won’t have to take “breaks” – you’ll be conducting research! 😉 Best of luck with the book.

  2. HGTV is my secret vice. My husband claims I watch too much of it. Of course I only watch for decorating advice, certainly not for the hunky hosts. And if you believe that I have a bridge in Arizona I’d be happy to sell to you!

  3. I love all of those HGTV design and remodeling shows. They are apparently a national obsession. What a great idea to use something you enjoy as the basis for this story. Also, great title and cover!
