About Sandy James

Sandy James lives in a quiet suburb of Indianapolis with her husband of thirty years. She's a high school social studies teacher who especially loves psychology and United States history. Since she and her husband own a small stable of harness racehorses, they often spend time together at the two Indiana racetracks.

So long, farewell…

It’s my turn to have a “last post” on Contemporary Romance Café.

I havgoodbyememee been so blessed to be a part of such a great group of writers. It’ll be a little weird not to have to remember the first Friday of every month and try to come up with something brilliant (as if…) to write!

Let me first give you a quick update on how things are going with my husband’s battle against colon cancer.

Jeff had a PET scan as a follow up to his radiation. There was some good news and a little bad. The good is that the two cancerous areas being radiated are now nothing but scar tissue, and that means the treatment was 100% successful! The bad is that a very small hot spot has appeared on his left lung. According to the oncologist, having colon cancer is like constantly “putting out fires.” We will have to be vigilant to address any of these spots that appear in the future. In this case, the doctor is sure radiation will end the new spot the same way it did the two other areas. A few lymph nodes are a little “hotter,” but we’re going to take a wait and see approach to those until after the radiation is completed.

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the well-wishes, the messages, the comments, and the prayers you’ve all offered to support us through this journey. Jeff and I appreciate them more than you could know.

Next, let me tell you what lies ahead for my writing career—at least for the near future.

I have a new series coming from Grand Central Forever Yours called Nashville Dreams. The first book, Can’t Walk Away, will debut in March. You can pre-order on Amazon, B&N, iBooks, and Kobo.

goodbye2Finally, I want to thank the writers of Contemporary Romance Café for allowing me to be a part of their world. I wish them all the greatest success!

That elusive chemistry…

I love my critique partners. If it weren’t for their help, most of what I write would probably be gibberish. They point of continuity problems, find the ever-present typos that plague a writer, and often can simply tell me when … Continue reading
